Wednesday Post

We have had a snow day the past two days and a delay today.  Crazy storms are supposed to come in tonight, so we are hoping for snow days Thursday and Friday. My Aunt and cousin  are supposed to come in from Kentucky if the school my Aunt works at is closed for Thursday then we will all go sleigh riding in the park!!! Trying to fix all the mistakes we made on wiki before the end of class since we only have 23minutes today instead of 45.

Well I am finally back, I had an orthadonist app. Wednesday and Academic Challenge competition Thursday. I had a good orthadonist report,my braces will be gone in a few weeks and I placed a competition now in March I have to go to Hunnington for Regionals. And while we were in Charleston I got my toe shoes at back stage and I danced around in them all last night. This week has been awesome!!!

1.WHO are you designing your game for?
My game is mostly for middle school students, maybe a 10-14 age range, because you learn communitive, distributive, and associative properties in middle school and that is the math we are using.


2.WHAT will your game teach the player about your topic?Well at first you will have to gues the property, then as it goes up in levels you will have to pick whether it is multiplication,divion,addition,subtaction and then you may have to choose an answer. We are in the S.T.E.M knowledge.


3.WHERE does your game happen?

• Describe the world you will design for your game.
• How will this setting add to the learning experience?

The game takes place in a grassy yard by an apple trees, there will be an apple tree, apples, a fox, a bunny, and a racoon and a little gun the racoon will shoot.


4. How does your game world teach the player about the topic?
What happens in the world that helps the player team?
How does the player use what they have learned to make something happen in the game?
It teaches you about the topic because you have to shoot the right answers to get anywhere in the game, the instructions will always be avalible and they willl have an example to help you, Well if you have used properties then you will be good at the game and be able to win.


5.Why is a game a better way of understanding your topic than a quiz?Well why would you want to spend your time to play games on the computer taking a math quiz, this game helps you have fun with math

Back From Break!!!

Today is the first day back from break and we all are tired and wishing we had another week. We are trying to get our team picture to show up, we had to delete out first team and make a new one so the picture should work now. Stevie is finally back, she was absent for eight days, because she was really sick, she is back and better now so maybe we can start working on the game. The week before we left for break we didn't get much done so hopefully this week we will get alot more accomplished, I think we already are though.

Weekly Blog Post

This week we are working on make a poster on flash to advirtise our game. Trying to upload mine but not   necessarily succeeding...YET, but it will eventually. We are all having a little trouble but Mrs. Zeto will help us figure it out. There is a really cool tool on flash that I found , the "Deco Tool" it has different setting like making the whole screen have flowers,vines, trees, and alot of other settings that have made everything very cool. Well still hopiong Stevie will be back soon she has been sick with Pneumonia and Bronchitis hope she gets better soon she has been absent since Friday. We have worked on imagining your game and we have almost finsished. We also were aloud to try out some of the tools on flash to see what they all do.

Mini Game

Our mini game was very hard to complete. We ended up with a lot of errors that we had to figure out and fix. If you even missed a semicolon or a comma the whole code was messed up. The mini game was very fun to do but confusing and you had to really pay good attencion which is something we need to work on. I do think the mini game was worth all the hard work and confusion.

Games on the internet

I love playing games on the internet. I especially love facebook games and myspace games. My favorite game we have played in globaloria is the third world farming game! Not doppler has really cool games too.

Oh my goodness we are trying to upload our current minigames. One of them worked perfectly then the other , well not so well. It said that it went currupt!!! Iam so confused!!! ~rachael

Yesterday we worked on the mini games. Then uploaded them through an SWF file to our wikis. We now have a bunny and a carrot working!!!

Movie Clips

Yesterday we worked with movie clips and SWF files. We opened a flash file and imported our own picture. We learned to upload the flashes we made you have to make it an SWF file meaning that it is a movie clip.

Well today we went to other schools and tried to find someone who has stem as a topic the school I had Braxton County has it we had fun looking through other schools work.

Research

We are doing our game on the properties of math.We will only use the Distribuative, Communative, and Assocative properties. We found a few cool sights on the properties with games. The first level you only have to pick the poperty then secong you pick the property and what is is like addition subtraction or multiplication.

Game Ideal

Our game idea is going to have two characters a fox and a bunny. The fox will be at the bottom of the stage and the bunny at the top. The game will give you and properties problem and you pick the apple with the correct answer if your right the fox will eat the apple, if your wrong then the apple will make the fox sick you have 5 lives before you have to start over. The problems get harder with each level you go to.

Internet Safety

Internet safety is a big deal in this class. You can't just put your name and address anywhere on the world wide web. Consider what you do before you post it, and if your not sure ask your globaloria teacher.
